When did Russell Wilson and Ashton Meem Get Divorced?
On January 14, 2012, Wilson and Meem exchanged vows at a country club in Virginia, the same year she was selected by the NFL. Reports said, The pair announced their divorce in April 2014, just two years after they got married. Wilson said in a statement:
“I have decided to file for divorce. It is obvious that decisions of this nature are difficult. In this trying time, Ashton and I respectfully request your prayers, sympathy and privacy. I won’t be commenting further on this personal topic going ahead.”
Although the precise cause of their divorce is still unknown, many fans thought that Meem’s alIeged affἀir with Wilson’s former teammate Golden Tate was to blame. Tate and Meem both refuted the charges in spite of the speculations.
Tate wrote in a statement:
“I did not have an affἀir with Russell Wilson’s wife and I had nothing to do with his divorce…Russell and I were close friends both on and off the field when I lived in Seattle and he is aware that the rumors that were spread about me were false, hurtful to my reputation and an attἀck on my character. Whoever spread the rumor was simply irresponsible.
Wilson remarried after the divorce, but Meem never did. The former couple never had any kids while they were married.
