The Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World found actually buried riches over the weekend. In honor of Animal Kingdom’s silver anniversary, the Orlando amusement park published a video of its discovery team unearthing a time capsule from the park’s original opening.

The Disney cast members who contributed to the time capsule’s “opening day memories” buried it for the first time on April 22, 1998, the firm claims. A quarter of a century later, the firm has revealed its trove of riches to the TikTok community.

Several floppy disks with opening day images, original data outlining park iterations dating back to May 1996, and three VHS films reviewing protocols and orientation for opening cast working across the park were placed in the time capsule from the late 1990s.

In addition to the original park maps and brochures, physical paper tickets, and a shirt autographed by the staff responsible for assembling the time capsule, Disney Parks employees also discovered the first toothbrush used by the silverback gorilla Gino at Animal Kingdom.

Fans were particularly interested in a set of nearly mint condition day-one souvenirs that included a keychain, magnets, buttons, two Animal Kingdom coffee mugs, and even a branded license plate.

The official Disney Parks TikTok account joked “Soooo who’s gonna help us access those floppy things?” in the video’s commentary on Monday. Although not many people took advantage of the offer, fans loved seeing the park as it was decades ago, and they want WDW Resorts to keep doing things like this.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 as the fourth and largest of Walt Disney World’s theme parks, covering an area of 500 acres and ushering in a new age of environmental appreciation, enjoyment, interaction, and celebration.
