The first video from Aaron Taylor-johnson’s upcoming Marvel picture “Kraven the Hunter” was shown by satellite to the annual convention of cinema owners in Las Vegas on Monday 24 April. The footage, which featured an ultraviolent frenzy of bl00d and throbbing biceps, was well received.
The J.C. Chandor-helmed film, as described by Taylor-Johnson, is “a Marvel movie grounded heavily in the real world.” We have no doubt that he is a ruthless kἰller with extensive training. Then he addressed what he called “the internet’s biggest question,” namely, whether or not the picture would be rated R.
Taylor Johnson’s Kraven, as seen in the premiere footage, is a tactical stalker who likes to wear cropped leather vests and has five-star hair. He uses crude claw-shaped weapons to brutally tear his victims. There is a lot of g0re, including a particularly vi0lent scene when Taylor-Johnson pulls the flesh off of a target’s neck and spits it out. Okay, so it has an R rating.
Oscar winners Russell Crowe and Ariana DeBose, as well as “Girls” graduate Christopher Abbott and “The Many Saints of Newark” actor Alessandro Nivola, round out the cast that Taylor-Johnson leads.
The studio teased with a press release before the “Kraven” preview, saying that the debut of “our formidable supervillain’s signature fur” will occur. Fans of the movies could always use more of the trademark fur.
While popular in Marvel’s comic books, “Kraven the Hunter” has yet to make an appearance in the MCU. Legend has it that he was once a Soviet soldier who became obsessed with hunting to the point where he sought to gather Spider-Man’s head as proof that he was the best hunter alive.
