The fourth Star Wars film was confirmed by creator Jon Favreau as early as 2022, a full year before season 3 of The Mandalorian was released. In addition, he has “written it already,” as he has stated.
Season 3 consisting of Chapters 17 through 24 has concluded; what lies ahead for Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter and his adopted son, Din Grogu? That’s still up in the air, but here’s everything we know about Season 4 of The Mandalorian is provided below.
The Mandalorian Season 4 Release Date
In addition to Favreau’s statements about season 4, no official release date or announcement has been made regarding when new episodes would begin production or even air on Disney+ as per reports. The year 2025 is a reasonable estimate for when we might have it.
However, Season 1 premiered in December 2019, while Season 2 is scheduled for release in October 2020, less than a year later. But then there was a long hiatus until the third season premiered in December 2021 and ran through February 2022: The Book of Boba Fett.
Given that two spin-offs with connections to The Mandalorian—Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew—are scheduled for 2023, it’s likely that the main series won’t return until late 2024 or early 2025, at the earliest, what with The Acolyte and Andor season 2 still needing to debut on the streaming service.

What can we expect from The Mando Season 4?
According to executive producer and director Rick Famuyiwa, “A lot was set up at the beginning of episode seven, so there are definitely implications for where the story goes beyond [that] and we’re still very excited about what Dave [Filoni] is doing with the series.”
Of course, for many, that will be discovering the future of Djarin and Grogu’s relationship as father and son and Baby Yoda as Mando’s pupil. Just as Pascal predicted, Grogu is becoming increasingly aware of his abilities. And it’s crucial that Mando not only cultivates that potential but also channels it properly.
The future of Mandalore under Bo-Katan’s control and the implications of cloning technology for the Empire and others who have avoided becoming involved are also major factors.
Larger events are taking place elsewhere in the cosmos. “There are lots of different factions all over the galaxy, including the resurgent Empire and the dispersed Mandalorians,” teased Favreau.
The executive producer went on, “We’ve established a really interesting dynamic and room for growth, and there’s plenty of room for development for these characters.” “There are a lot of factors outside these characters’ control that will play a role. And there are upcoming characters who will make their debut and steal the show.”
Which Character will return in The Mandalorian Season 4?
Pascal has addressed his future as Din, indicating how long he will stay on the series, so we know our titular bounty hunter will return. “As long as they keep writing it,” the actor stated, “I’ll keep playing him.” “And even if I can’t fit into the suit, somebody can,” he continued, joking that he might outgrow the character’s snug armor.
Sackhoff wants to go on even more adventures as Bo-Katan, but Pascal is content to stay put. When asked if she would return for Season 4 and beyond, she replied, “Absolutely.” That’s why helmets are great, but if a scene calls for a stunt that’s beyond my abilities, you can always sub in a replacement actor so I can keep playing Bo even when I’m 90.
