The fantasy drama series House of the Dragon was developed by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO in the United States. It’s the second TV show in the A Song of Ice and Fire series and it serves as a prelude to Game of Thrones.

For the premiere season, Condal and Miguel Sapochnik were the showrunners. The events of the series based on Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood take place 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen and roughly 100 years after the unification of the Seven Kingdoms by the Targaryen Conquest.

The program which features an ensemble cast depicts the events leading up to the catastrophic conflict of succession known as the “Dance of the Dragons” that marked the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen.

After winning an award for best drama series, House of the Dragon’s official site posted the Tweet shown below.

House of The Dragon Season 2: An Epic Return

The House of Dragon starts filming. The following Tweet, released by the House of Dragon’s official Twitter account, confirms that filming has begun.

Showrunner Ryan Condal gave fans this major update in a post to The Hollywood Report:

“We are so excited to be back in the studio with our original cast members and new additions to the crew. Soon, your favorite characters will be plotting at council tables, gathering their armies and preparing to fly into battle atop their dragons. We’re excited to tell you about our plans”.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon probably won’t come out until late 2024. Even if the series has been revived and fans are eagerly expecting the next saga keep in mind that it takes time for a dragon egg to hatch.

After the Game of Thrones prequel series’ record-breaking first episode, which was seen by over 25 million people in its first week, HBO is eager to get the series just perfect.

Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans are all part of the season two cast.

Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham are among the other regular cast members who will be back.

WBD Access Directors Shadows is a mentoring and on-set shadowing program for aspiring production workers that is being promoted by the production. Two upcoming filmmakers, B Welby and Ebele Tate will get the opportunity to work with a top-notch team and polish their craft.
