Spoilers for the book Never Have I Ever Follow. There will be a fourth season of the blockbuster Netflix show Never Have I Ever, although the premiere date has not yet been announced.
So maybe we should enjoy the suspense because this is the last season.
Season four is complete, and it’s excellent. As Mindy Kaling put it in August of 2022, “It’s really a tribute to how hard it is to say goodbye to characters you love writing” (via Entertainment Weekly).
Character development is a long process for writers. You get into a routine after writing a pilot and staffing up. That’s why so many shows from my childhood survived a good five seasons over their natural run. [Laughs]
But I think in a few years from now I’ll say, “No, it was fortunate that it stopped then.”
As she enters her senior year of high school and the last season of Never Have I Ever draws near, Devi has a lot of important lessons to learn about love and life. And now that she seems to be heating up with Ben, her friends and family are probably wondering what’s next for her.
At least we’ll be here to set the record straight as we move forward together.
As Devi prepares for her next step, here is all you need to know.
Never Have I Ever Season 4 Release Date
Although no official date has been set for the release of the last season of Never Have I Ever, fans can probably expect it to premiere sometime in the summer of 2023 based on the show’s track record.
Season 2 premiered in July 2021, and Season 3 followed in August 2022. Season 1 premiered in April 2020. So, it is reasonable to assume that Season 4 will air around the same time.
But, production on the show is already complete, so it’s possible the release date for the series will be moved up. We promise to keep you informed.

Never Have I Ever Season 4 Plot
Season three of Never Have I Ever left viewers on a bit of a cliffhanger when Devi showed up at Ben’s house to use the “one free boink” certificate he had playfully given her. Although Ben acknowledged he didn’t want her to leave for a year-long school program outside of California, Devi realized she still had feelings for him and made the decision to stay.
Ultimately, Devi opted to stay, not because of him, but because she was still grieving the loss of her mother, Nalini, from cancer.
Paxton, meantime, is enrolling at Arizona State University; his feelings toward Devi are unclear. He thanked her explicitly in his graduation address for helping him mature, but it appears that they have both accepted the need to move on.
But Lang said that Paxton might be making one last play for Devi’s heart because old flames never die. You can’t just get rid of the love triangle in the last season, he remarked, since “it’s the show’s backbone.” But we wanted Devi to say her final goodbye to Paxton from a lofty perch in this season’s finale. Whatever happens [between Devi and Ben], Season 4 will be filled with entertaining and exciting events.
Nalini is still adjusting to her new normal without Mohan. Perhaps it’s time to watch her stand on her own two feet after a potential love fizzled out in season two and a putative friendship fell apart in season three.
Our girls’ final year of high school in Sherman Oaks will be the focus of Season 4. There will be a lot to talk about in order to make it a memorable experience before they separate for college.
Without spoiling anything, I will say that [Devi] is finished with Paxton as a fantasy boy right now. She held him in the highest regard, almost as if he were a god. This is the time for her to bid farewell to that era of her life.
Season four, I believe, is all about maturing and moving on. These people are in their final year of high school. What kind of person do they aspire to be? And I suppose it’s because they’re kind of like slightly more mature versions of themselves and having this huge, epic senior year.
The manner we send our characters off into the world should be satisfactory to our audience, right?
Fisher noted that both She and Ben “have been these obnoxious A students for so long that they are laser-focused on these top schools that they want to go to” (via Netflix). “There is a lot of working out what those things signify in terms of who they are, and how valuable they are in [relation to] the institution they get into,” says the author.
