Cotton was surprisingly influential during her time at Apple, despite the drama and secrecy that surrounded her. Apple managed to generate a hunger for news by restricting its press releases, making any tidbit of information seem like gold.
Katie Cotton’s cause of deἀth is unknown yet. Cotton was appointed Apple’s VP of communications in 1996 and served in that capacity until her retirement in 2014.
Throughout her tenure, she was responsible for developing Apple’s media strategy and assisting in the planning of the company’s ground-breaking launch events. She supported Apple from the shadows and was infamous for shielding Jobs during his illness.
Cotton left the company around two years into Tim Cook’s term as CEO. Cook succeeded Jobs. Throughout her tenure, Apple made its way back from the brink of bankruptcy to become the most valuable company in the world, making it one of the most miraculous comebacks in technology history.
According to reports, Family members described her deἀth on April 6 as “peaceful” adding that she was regarded as one of the most extraordinary women in public relations and marketing in technology.
