Who is Brandi Carlile Married To?
Catherine Shepherd and Brandi Carlile have been together for more than ten years. When Shepherd was working for Paul McCartney’s charity in 2009, the Grammy-winning musician and social crusader first spoke with her wife over the phone.
Carlile and Shepherd got married in Boston in September in front of their friends and family. Carlile announced her marriage on social media and noted that while she was happy to be married, the week leading up to the ceremony had not gone as well as she had hoped.
On Facebook, she posted, “See I’m sure all weddings have an insane week preceding the event but me and Catherine might have won that contest”.
The couple got married three times over the course of two years after first meeting in person in 2010. The couple tied the knot a second time in February 2013 and then held a civil ceremony in front of Shepherd’s friends and family in England and family.
Carlile wrote on Facebook, “It was one of our best days When the officiant asked if anyone could think of a reason we should not be married”.
The couple welcomed daughters Evangeline Ruth and Elijah in between appearances on red carpets and charitable activities. Carlile revealed the couple’s IVF story in 2021, She said:
“I made peace with knowing that there was some pioneering involved in what we were doing to the point where there wasn’t even a two mother template on a birth certificate yet”.

When did Catherine Shepherd and Brandi Carlile Meet?
Shepherd, a Brit who oversaw McCartney’s philanthropic efforts for ten years, first spoke to Carlile on the phone in 2009 when she got in touch to contribute some Beatles memorabilia to the singer’s Fight the Fear initiative.
Regular phone calls between the two people persisted. Carlile was taken aback in 2010 when she finally met Shepherd in person in New York City after a year of long-distance phone chats. Carlile revealed in 2021:
“That was surprising to say the least whenever we spoke on the phone, I imagined myself conversing with someone at least 65 years old. I have no idea why. Because of her sage advice and calm manner, I believe or perhaps I mistakenly assumed she was Paul’s age. We were both around 27 when we first met in New York City’s backstage area.”
At the Donor Of The Day Ceremony at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City in May 2012, Carlile and Shepherd made their first public appearance as a couple.
