Six months before the show’s premiere in November 2021, Prime Video confirmed a renewal, ensuring that the Wheel of Time would continue to turn for quite some time.
In other words, season two of The Wheel of Time is guaranteed. Actually, work on Season 2 wrapped up in the spring of 2022 and it is currently in post-production.
TVLine spoke with Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios’ Head of Global TV, right before the season one finale aired, and he shared the following thoughts on the early decision to order a second season:
“We felt really sure that we had something that could go for a very long time for us as episodes came in and we saw the level of craftsmanship and as we continued to chat to showrunner Rafe Judkins about where future seasons might go”.
The Wheel of Time is Amazon Video’s most-watched original series of 2021, thus the company’s bets have already paid off. This bodes well for the upcoming second season, which will continue to take cues from Robert Jordan’s novels.
What is the Wheel of Time Season 2 Release Date?
Amazon has not yet announced when the second season of The Wheel of Time will premiere. But we hope that we will able to see this season soon. Production on the movie started in July of 2021, so audiences hoped it would hit theaters in the spring or summer of 2022.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the case so far. According to the show’s official Twitter, production on season two of Wheel of Time has concluded. When the second season wrapped up filming, the show released a behind-the-scenes teaser video that provided a glimpse into the production process.

Images from the table read and the set shoot was included in the snapshot. The artists at work on the sculptures were also shown, as were some of the stunts they performed. It’s short, but it’s full of surprises including glimpses of new characters, settings, and outfits.
The season will have eight episodes, the same as the original series. According to the show’s official Twitter, “A Taste of Solitude” will be the title of the premiere episode of Season 2.

Several eager followers even demanded an announcement of a release date or a trailer after seeing this message. Vernon Sanders provided the following news regarding season two on December 22, 2021:
“I can’t wait for the viewers to see what we have in store after receiving the rough cuts of the first episodes of season two that Rafe [Judkins] and his team recently sent us”.
In December of 2022, impatient fans got an update from Rafe Judkins himself. He told in an interview that the next season will not premiere in early 2023 as many had thought, but that it would return later in the year. He said:
“I can say that there’s some truth to the rumours in that I do believe season two will be premiering in 2023. I don’t think early, there’s still a lot of work that we’ve got to do on the show in post production, VFX all of that. So I would not expect it in early 2023, but you can expect it in 2023”.

What Will Happen in Wheel of Time Season 2?
Rand and Moiraine had sneaked out to find The Eye of the World by the end of the first season, leading to a perilous showdown with the Dark One. In the meantime, the rest of the group fought alongside Fal Dara’s warriors to repel an attack from the Dark One.
The second season will undoubtedly deal with the repercussions of this pivotal choice, as well as investigate Mat’s activities and the coming of the Seanchan army from across the sea.
The most crucial detail is that season 2 of The Wheel of Time will draw heavily on volumes two and three of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time epic narrative, The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn. The eight episodes won’t stick closely to the books, but they will build upon each character’s arc in interesting ways.
