Tameka Cottle Harris Journey From Reality TV to Entrepreneurship
Tameka Cottle Harris, now 47 years old received a Grammy in 2000 for best R&B song with Kandi for their work on TLC’s smash hit, No Scrubs. At least eight reality shows have featured Tiny since 2009. Meanwhile, the singer tried her hand at entrepreneurship on 2014’s Tiny And Shekinah’s Weave Tour, recording while on the road with a mobile hair salon.
Tameka has many other accomplishments such as being a member of the “American Society of Composers,” receiving a “Authors and Publishers” award in the categories R&B and Pop Music for “No Scrubs” along with the “ASCAP Rap” award for her work on the track “No Pigeons” by Sporty Thievz.
Cottle has shared the stage with the likes of Bow Wow, T.I., Lil’ Kim and 8Ball & MJG among many others. Xscape’s Tameka Scott returned after a five-year hiatus to record the album “Unchained” with her sisters LaToucha and Tameka Scott and new member Kiesha Miles. In 2005, Xscape issued the single “What’s Up.”
Cottle has collaborated with Kiesha Miles on a project and the resulting musical trio goes by the name “OMG Girlz.” Zonnique, Tameka’s daughter is also a member of the group. T.I.’s “Hello” music video featured Cottle, her family and the OMG Girlz.
Tameka Cottle is well-known as a TV personality as well as a musician. Tina and Toya starring Cottle and Antonia “Tonya” Wright, Lil’ Wayne’s ex-wife aired on VH1. In June 2009, the series premiered.
On July 22, 2014, Cottle released her first solo single, “What the F__k You Gon Do?” under her new label name, “Pretty Hustle.” In less than 24 hours after its release, the song climbed to the top of the R&B/soul charts on iTunes, peaking at number five.
