William H. Macy is being sued for a large sum of money because his neighbor claims he “knowingly and purposefully” hacked down their trees.

According to court records acquired by People on Thursday 6 April, the “Shameless” star is accused of damaging next-door neighbor Pierce Brown’s property by ordering his landscapers to cut down trees outside his property boundary.

It has been stated that in December 2021, during the course of the project, several healthy, decades-old mature pine trees and other vegetation on the Brown Land were “destroyed” or “seriously damaged.”

According to the complaint that was filed last week, “the pine trees and other vegetation were found considerably inside of the Brown Property border.” “Macy’s employees smashed the gate that separated the Brown Property from the rest of the mall.”

Brown was out of town on business at the time, but he says Macy, 73, “acknowledged” that his workers had entered the Brown property without authorization and destroyed several areas, including the hillside, the next month.

According to Brown, he is owed $600,000 because he had “emotional distress, irritation, discomfort, and suffering” as a result of the incident. Brown also alleges that he experienced “loss of property value, loss of use and enjoyment of his property, a loss of privacy, an increase in noise.”

The involvement of Macy and his wife Felicity Huffman in the 2019 college admissions controversy is just the latest legal turmoil for the couple.

Huffman paid $15,000 to have her daughter’s SAT scores raised, but she only got 14 days in jail because she pled guilty. Though, Macy did not face any charges.
