During the course of three days last week, three youngsters, two girls aged 16 and a male aged 17, were discovered sh0t to deἀth in different parts of Marion County. Ocklawaha, Florida sheriff’s deputies found a 16-year-old girl sh0t on the side of the road on Thursday, March 30.
She was rushed to the emergency room, but she couldn’t be saved. Layla Silvernail was the name of the girl. On Friday, March 31, deputies arrived at the area of SE 94th Street and SE 188th Court, where they located a 17-year-old kid lying on the side of the road with gunsh0t w0unds.
His deἀth was ruled an instant loss of life. At his family’s wish, he was not publicly identified. On Saturday, April 1, deputies responded to a call about a car submerged in a lake near Malauka Loop and Malauka Loop Trail, where they discovered a 16-year-old female with gunsh0t w0unds in the trunk.
The sheriff has announced that two boys, ages 12 and 17, have been detained in connection with the deἀths. However, police are still searching for a third suspect, a 16-year-old boy who is regarded to be ἀrmed and dἀngerous.
The two boys were taken into custody on Thursday, April 6, 2023 and Sheriff Woods said they were being investigated for first-degɼee, premeditated murdeɼ. The 12-year-old was taken into custody from his home, while the 17-year-old, named Robert Robinson was already in the care of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Robinson was arrested on robbery charges as well. Reports have decided not to identify the suspect or air any photographs of him because he is only 12 years old. Sheriff Woods has asked for the public’s assistance in locating the missing 16-year-old Tahj Brewton.
He said:
“You know where he is and you need to turn him in. Now, I will get him. I will find him and justice will be completed.”
On Friday, April 7, 2023 night, MCSO announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the capture of Brewton.
There are multiple felony warrants out for his arrest, including carjacking with a fireἀrm, ἀggravated ἀssault, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and tampering with an electronic monitoring device, all from separate cases that have resulted in active juvenile custody orders.
The sh00ting, according to Sheriff Woods, was an isolated event and he warned that there was no greater threat to the town or a serἰal kἰller on the loose. Further, he dispelled speculation that a fourth person had been kἰlled. At a press conference on Friday, Sheriff Woods said that robbery may have been the impetus for the sh00tings.
Suspects and victims both knew one other, making this a six-person crἰme with possible gang ties. When referring to them in the past, Woods used terms like “hybrid” and “want to be a gang.”
He added that detectives had no information suggesting the sh00tings were related to a rivalry between the two groups, but that they had determined the youths in question were participating in burglaries and robberies which they called a lick.
He said:
“Each and every one of them in some shape way or form was associated with a gang”.
Sheriff Woods said:
“They fled the scenes, but left a lot of evidence in their wake, Anyone with information on the teen’s whereabouts was asked to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office”.
