Born in Australia on March 11, 1931, American business tycoon Keith Rupert Murdoch AC KCSG is an entrepreneur and politician. In the United Kingdom, he owns The Sun and The Times; in Australia, he owns The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun and The Australian; in the United States, he owns The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post; in addition, he owns book publisher HarperCollins and television networks Sky News Australia and Fox News.
In addition to the defunct News of the World, he owned Sky (until 2018), 21st Century Fox (until 2019), and Fox News. As of 2 March 2022, Murdoch has a net worth of $21.7 billion, making him the 71st richest person in the world and the 31st richest person in the United States.
Murdoch took over the family business, a small Adelaide newspaper called The News after his father died in 1952. Murdoch began his newspaper empire in the 1950s and 1960s by purchasing publications in Australia and New Zealand. He entered the British market in 1969 by purchasing the News of the World and soon after The Sun.
Murdoch relocated to New York in 1974 to increase his company’s presence in the American market; he nevertheless maintained operations in his own Australia and the United Kingdom. Murdoch acquired his first British broadsheet, The Times, in 1981. In 1985, he gave up his Australian citizenship and became a naturalized American citizen so that he could legally operate a television network in the United States.

His father started out as a war journalist and ended up as the chairman of the Herald and Weekly Times publishing company and the owner of two newspapers in Adelaide and a radio station in a remote mining town. Helen Murdoch (1929-2004), Anne Murdoch (born 1935), and Janet Murdoch (born 1939). Patrick John Murdoch, his paternal grandpa, was a Presbyterian clergyman. He was born in Scotland. Murdoch eventually adopted his maternal grandfather’s first name as his own.

Murdoch purchased “Rosehearty,” an 11-bedroom mansion on a 5-acre waterfront estate in New York City’s Centre Island neighborhood, in 2003. He bought a mansion, vineyard, and winery in Bel Air, Los Angeles County, called the Moraga Estate in May of 2013. Holmwood, a manor house and estate built in the 18th century in the English community of Binfield Heath, is Murdoch and Jerry Hall’s new home as of 2019. Holmwood is located around 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Reading.
It was stated in late 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, that Murdoch and Hall had spent the majority of the year isolated in their Binfield Heath home. On December 16th, he went to Henley-on-Thames to get vaccinated for the first time against COVID-19.
