A major figure in Japanese music Ryuichi Sakamoto has passed away. The news of his dea†h spread like wildfire throughout the internet this morning after it was reported in Japan. Just now, Ryuichi Sakamoto’s dea†h was announced on his social media accounts. Age-wise, he was 71.
Throat cancer was the initial diagnosis for Ryuichi Sakamoto in 2014. Although he had good treatment for that problem, he later disclosed he had rectal cancer. By the close of 2022, he gave his farewell performance, and he kept his followers updated on his condition.
Classically trained, Ryuichi Sakamoto was drawn to new electronic instruments by his pursuit of unconventional sounds. Yellow Magic Orchestra was attracted to his unique blend of exceptional melodic sense and technical prowess.

The three members were early forerunners of the kind of music known as “City Pop,” as well as the foundation for all electronic pop. Ryuichi Sakamoto continued to construct a solo library, which included the song “Riot In Lagos,” which was adored by hip-hop producers and had a significant impact on the development of electro.
