Directed by Eli Roth and written by Joe Carnahan, Death Wish is an American action thriller released in 2018. It’s a reimagining of the original Death Wish movie from 1974 and a new beginning for the Death Wish franchise, which began with a novel by Brian Garfield in 1972.
Bruce Willis plays Dr. Paul Kersey, a Chicago native who seeks vengeance on the assailants of his family. Together with Vincent D’Onofrio and Elisabeth Shue, the cast also includes Dean Norris and Kimberly Elise. In 2006, Sylvester Stallone was supposed to direct and appear in a remake of the 1974 picture, but he eventually dropped out.
Even though his story has been revised multiple times since 2012, Carnahan was nonetheless awarded sole scripting credit despite his withdrawal. In 2016, Roth came on board as director, and they began shooting in Chicago with Rogier Stoffers at the helm of photography. Mark Goldblatt edited the final cut, while Ludwig Göransson scored the film.
