Where was The Jimmy Kimmel First Air?
Before relocating to 11:35 p.m. ET on January 8, 2013, the program had been airing between midnight and 12:05 a.m. to compete with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman, while pushing ABC’s nightly news program Nightline to 12:37 a.m. ET.
After the retirements of Jay Leno in February 2014, David Letterman in May 2015, and Jon Stewart in August 2015, Jimmy Kimmel surpassed both Conan O’Brien and Bill Maher as the third-longest serving current host in network late-night television. When O’Brien’s program ended in 2021, Kimmel has been on for longer than any other host except for Maher.
