How Did Carl Ruiz Die?
Almost a month after the chef’s untimely dea†h, his loved ones have learned what caused Carl Ruiz’s dea†h. The Food Network personality d!ed of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to a representative for the Maryland Department of Health, who talked with TMZ.
According to the Mayo Clinic, atherosclerosis causes arterial hardening due to the accumulation of cholesterol and fat, which then solidify into plaque within the artery walls and reduce blood flow. This disease develops when fats, cholesterol, and other substances build up and harden in the arteries, restricting blood flow.
Bruce Goldfarb, the assistant to the chief medical examiner of the Maryland Department of Health, confirmed to TODAY that the celebrity chef died in his sleep from this disease.
Mayor Guy Fieri shared a Tweet in which he said, “I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone”.
I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone. I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family. His ability to make me laugh and smile under any circumstances was only outshined by his talent as a chef. pic.twitter.com/einY8qp7wf
