Charles Barkley has been fairly forthright in recent years about his thoughts on Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. The most recent instance was a Sunday, March 26, 2023, night interview that aired on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”
K.D. Durant is part of that generation who thinks he can’t be criticized, according to Barkley, who acknowledged that Durant is a fantastic player.
“He’s very sensitive. Great player. He’s part of that generation who thinks he can’t be criticized,” Charles Barkley said of 13-time NBA All-Star star Kevin Durant. Durant has been quick to swipe back at Barkley’s commentary. https://t.co/dWM2HGhExi pic.twitter.com/JgO9WdDlpo

This is not the first time Barkley has spoken publicly about Durant. As Kevin Durant was weighing his free agency options four years ago, Charles Barkley expressed his belief that Durant lacked the mental makeup to play in New York. Naturally, that summer Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets instead. Barklin said:
“Well, I’d say, Kevin, you’re one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen. You also got some of the thinnest skin I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if you’re made for New York City”.
“I think that would be the toughest aspect. If he’s arguing with these teenagers online, he’s not going to be able to deal with that New York media.”
Three years later in the midst of K.D.’s time with the Nets, Barkley joined the Bickley & Marotta radio program on AZ Sports and referred to Durant as “Mr. Miserable.”
The Suns have won all three games since acquiring Durant from the Nets in February. He is averaging 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. Due to an ankle ailment, the All-Star forward has missed much of the season with his new team.
