On Thursday 23 March, a Colorado dentist was formally charged with murd*r after allegedly poisoning his wife’s protein drinks. A family friend said she was “shocked” to discover his other life.
James Toliver Craig was charged with first-degree murd*r in Arapahoe County District Court on allegations that he poisoned his wife, Angela, using arsenic and cyanide. Craig an Aurora dentist, is accused of k!lling his wife so he could “start a new life” with another lady, according to an arrest warrant issued by police.
Mother of six Angela Craig was declared brain dead on Saturday. The arrest order for her husband stated that she had visited the hospital three days prior complaining of a “severe headache” and dizziness, making this her third visit the hospital in less than two weeks.
According to the arrest warrant, she suffered a “severe seizure” that afternoon and then “rapidly” declined from there. Soon after being put on life support, she passed away.
Her obituary recalled that she “used her abilities to elevate people around her, especially her children,” and that she had an “unbounded sense of humor and quick wit.”
According to her obituary, she was also a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in several capacities there such as choir director, teacher, youth organization leader, and family history consultant.
A family friend, Laura Packard, whose husband James Craig knew when they were both kids in Kansas, remembered Angela as “a terrific parent” who was devoted to her family and who was involved in her church and community. She said that she had never witnessed any signs of marital discord and that the pair “seemed happy while we were there.”
Craig “came from a wonderful family,” she added, adding that he was also clever, diligent, and devout.
Not that she doubted he would accomplish anything less, but they were “extremely impressed” by what he had accomplished in his life.
That “he was raised better than this,” she remarked. She explained that after hearing the news of Angela’s dea†h, her family was “devastated,” and that they were subsequently “shocked and disbelieving” upon hearing the claims against Craig.

According to the Warrant, Angela Craig had previously been Hospitalized
The police warrant recounts the tumultuous history of the Craigs’ marriage, including the concerns of friends and coworkers that James Craig may have contributed to his wife’s illness.
According to the warrant, one of Angela Craig’s business associates notified a nurse on March 15 that he thought Craig might have been poisoned after learning that Craig was hospitalized that day.
Despite there being no medical need for such a substance at a dental practice, Craig’s business partner, who claims he and Craig have known each other for more than 20 years and have been partners since Craig acquired his dental practice in August 2002, told police that Craig recently had an order of potassium cyanide shipped to their office.
According to the warrant, the business partner informed the police that Craig had confided in him about the marital issues he and Angela were experiencing.
The marriage had “always been difficult,” according to Angela’s sister, who told police that Craig “had many affairs with several women,” was “addicted to pornography,” and had drugged Angela around five or six years ago.
According to Angela’s sister, “James always convinced her to stay,” meaning that James had persuaded Angela to stay with him despite her repeated threats to leave him over the years.
