American actress and singer Holly Elizabeth Robinson Peete was born on September 18, 1964. Among her most notable roles are those of Judy Hoffs on 21 Jump Street, Vanessa Russell on Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper and Dr. Malena Ellis on For Your Love.

She was also a founding co-host on The Talk, a daytime talk show on CBS. In addition to her role as Diana Ross in the 1992 ABC miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream, she has a considerable fanbase for her performance in the film.

Where did Pete Earn her Diploma?

Peete was born Holly Elizabeth Robinson to parents Dolores and Matt Robinson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her father was a producer/writer and her mother taught elementary school worked in public relations and became her personal talent manager.

Matthew Thomas Robinson III is her older brother. Her high school was the Germantown-based Greene Street Friends School. The year was 1974 and the location was California. Rob Lowe and Yvette Lee Bowser were Peete’s classmates at Santa Monica High School in Santa Monica, California, where she earned her diploma.

Peete earned a double major in psychology and French from Sarah Lawrence College. Peete spent a year at the Sorbonne, a French university and now speaks the language fluently. A highlight of her time in Paris was sharing a bill at the Hotel Meridian Jazz Club with jazz legend Lionel Hampton.

Holly Robinson’s Early TV Appearances

She made her first television appearance on Sesame Street. As a six-year-old, she kept saying “Hello, Daddy” instead of “Hi, Gordon,” her character’s name. She was only seen walking with Big Bird. At 11, Holly was a celebrity correspondent for Kidsworld, interviewing several actors and actresses.

She starred in 21 Jump Street, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, For Your Love and Like Family. She played the seductive radio DJ in Babyface’s 1990 hit “Whip Appeal” video. She played Diana Ross in 1992’s The Jacksons: An American Dream on Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.

Love, Inc. was Robinson’s last UPN comedy. The WB/UPN merger terminated the show after one season. Robinson sang the 21 Jump Street theme tune in a brief career. The Howard the Duck soundtrack featured several of her songs.

She played for her charity, the HollyRod Foundation, which supports families with Parkinson’s illness or autism, on The Celebrity Apprentice 3 in 2010. On October 18, 2010, Robinson co-hosted CBS’s The Talk. Robinson was recognized for speaking out against African American issues and autism since her son Rodney has it.

Robinson led a weekly The Talk autism awareness series in April 2011. Peete and Remini left The Talk after its first season. The show’s failure to explain why the two were fired drew audience dissatisfaction and star fan protests.
