A sequel to Beetlejuice is reportedly in the works, and it will star the original cast, including Jenna Ortega. The Beetlejuice sequel, which has been in development for a long time, has reportedly been given a new lease on life. and a bright new star.

Beetlejuice 2, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara, has reportedly been given the go-ahead, via The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider. In addition, Jenna Ortega apparently has the offer to play Lydia Deetz, Ryder’s character’s daughter.

There have been whispers about a Beetlejuice sequel for years, with Burton, Keaton and Ryder all showing interest in it to varying degrees.

Although it seemed like Burton had received the go-ahead from Warner Bros. to begin production on a sequel in 2015, he recently admitted that the project was no longer in development. Brad Pitt’s production firm, Plan B, joined the project last year with the hope of eventually beginning filming.

Obviously, Ortega’s breakout role as Wednesday Addams in Burton’s Netflix series propelled her to the A-list. The Beetlejuice agreement may not be finalized just yet, but Ortega’s casting is a no-brainer considering her history with Burton and her standing as a goth icon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for Beetlejuice 2 may start in London in late May or early June.

To promote her new film, Scream 6, Ortega will host this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. She has also been cast in a new film opposite The Weeknd and is set to return for a second season on Wednesday. Alex Young claims that production on a sequel to Beetlejuice has begun, with the original cast as well as Jenna Ortega.
