Scream 6 Earned a High Percentage
The embargo on reviews for Scream VI has lifted and the film currently has a favorable 83% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes after 12 critics have seen it. If the rating holds steady or improves as more reviews come Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group will be very pleased with the result.
This is almost 10% higher than the “Certified Fresh” score that Scream 5 ultimately landed on. “To keep the action moving at a swift pace as the bodies pile up and the blood flows,” as Deadline put it.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return to direct and the magazine praised their work, adding that the well-chosen cast helps a lot.
“Scream VI ends in the way all good horror movies should: with fans dying for more,” wrote the A.V. Club. Melissa Barrera has been praised for her work in particular reviewers said she was “somewhat underused” in Scream 5 but is “front and center” here.
Although many people found it impressive, others did not. Despite promising a “bloody good time,” Digital Spy noted that the film plays by too many “familiar rules.” They say the film’s climax is a mash-up of Scream elements we’ve seen before and that it lacks “lustre.”
IGN shared a Tweet for the reviews of Scream VI and said, “While the character-driven story of Scream 6 is the primary reason for its success, it’s far from the only one”.
