According to the Rochester Police Department, Two people were killed, one is in critical condition and six others were injured when a crowd of people rushed the stage at a concert in Rochester, New York on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
According to Lt. Nicholas Adams, police were called to the Main Street Armory in Rochester at 11:05 p.m. because of reports of gunfire at the concert. When police arrived, they discovered several victims but it was later determined that none of their wounds were caused by gunfire.
Adams said in a statement:
At this time, there is no evidence to support a shooting had occurred inside the event. The injuries appear to be as a result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of individuals hearing what they believed to be gunshots.
A 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital, where three others had been taken after the incident. According to the Rochester Police Department, a second person passed away on Monday.
According to the police, one victim’s condition has remained critical and could potentially be fatal. Six additional people with non-life-threatening injuries were taken by private vehicle to nearby hospitals.
