According to the Colchester police, a husband and wife committed suicide together. Michael and Melissa Bergeron were identified by police. Before 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday 1 March, police were called to an apartment complex on Holy Cross Road in Colchester. A neighbor reportedly dialed 911 after hearing a commotion and a loud noise.
The Bergerons were found dead from gunshot wounds when the cops arrived. According to current speculation, Michael shot Melissa before turning the weapon on himself.
This tragedy is compounded by the presence of a young child in the home at the time. The child is safe with family,” Colchester Police Chief Doug Allen said.
The Serious Crime Unit of the Vermont State Police was also brought in to assist with the probe. It has been reported that relatives have set up a GoFundMe page to help the couple’s 10-year-old kid. By the time this article was published, it had already raised $4,300.
