On Instagram on Wednesday, singer Ed Sheeran disclosed that his wife Cherry Seaborn was diagnosed with a tumor while carrying the couple’s second child. In a lengthy blog post, Sheeran revealed the news, calling his new album “Subtract” the culmination of his “deepest darkest thoughts.”
After only a month of being pregnant, Sheeran’s wife was diagnosed with a tumor and told that she would have to wait to receive treatment until after the baby was born.
“In May, the 32-year-old announced that he and his wife, Seaborn, had given birth to a baby daughter. Lyra, the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, completes their family.
Sheeran and his wife Seaborn keep their personal lives very quiet, and he rarely discusses his family on social media. There was a wedding between the two in 2019, per BBC News. But he did not include any new information about his wife’s condition in the message, CBS News has reached out to a representative for clarification.

Sheeran detailed further adversities he endured during the past year in his post. I lost a brother and best friend when Jamal passed very unexpectedly, he stated. According to reports, it was British entrepreneur Jamal Edwards, through his media company SBTV, who gave Sheeran his big break. A “sudden illness” claimed his life in February 2022, when he was only 31 years old.
With his 2017 song “Shape of You,” Sheeran was sued on the grounds that he had copied the work of another musician, Sami Switch. “I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter,” Sheeran stated. In April of 2022, the case went Sheeran’s way.

Sheeran claimed that he had been working on “Subtract” for ten years, but that the events of 2022 had profoundly altered his outlook on life, mental health, and creativity. Hence, the entire record was replaced approximately a week ago with his “deepest darkest thoughts.”
He described making music as therapeutic for him, and claimed he “simply composed whatever spilled out” when making this album.
“For the first time, I’m not attempting to design an album people will like, I’m only putting something out that’s honest and genuine to where I am in my adult life,” he wrote.
