Ed Sheeran is channeling waves of fear, depression and anxiety with his upcoming album “-“. The album, pronounced “Subtract” is the final one to feature one of his many mathematical titles.

Sheeran has said in a statement that he has spent the past decade working on hundreds of songs for “the perfect acoustic album” referring to his upcoming fifth studio album.

His original intention was to release an album that would appeal to the masses. Still, after going through some emotionally taxing experiences in early 2022, he decided to change his tune words. Ed Sheeran’s upcoming album, “-” (read: “Subtract”) is going to release on May 5, 2023.

According to his March 1 social media post, he made the announcement, “I had been working on Subtract for a decade”.

After “+” (2011), “x” (2014), “÷” (2017) and “=” (2021), this will be Sheeran’s sixth studio album and the fifth in his mathematical series. The 2019 album “No. 6 Collaborations Project” featured his work with various artists including Justin Bieber, Khalid and Bruno Mars.

Aaron Dessner, of the band The National produced this album. The 2020 album “Folklore” on which Dessner collaborated with Taylor Swift was widely hailed and ultimately won the Grammy for Album of the Year.
