A tornado reportedly made landfall in Butler County’s northeast, according to the National Weather Service. A meteorologist with the service said that the tornado was confirmed by radar at around 2:40 p.m. Debris from a tornado was discovered in northeastern Butler County.
But meteorologists are still piecing together damage reports to pinpoint the exact spot where the twister made landfall. Madison Township residents called 911 multiple times to report damage to their homes, according to a tweet from Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services (ERS) members responded to Madison Township to assist those affected by the storm today. The western part of Middles*x County is home to Madison Township. Warnings for tornadoes were issued for parts of southeastern Indiana and the Ohio counties of Butler, Warren and Montgomery. There has been only one confirmed tornado thus far.
Behind the storms, the National Weather Service warned that 40-50 mph winds were possible. More than 3,000 people in the area who use Duke Energy lost power at one point. There is still a wind advisory in effect until Monday night at 10 p.m.
