Business executive and political official Jeffrey Dunston Zients (born November 12, 1966) served as Counselor to the President and White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator from January 2021 until April 2022. Below you’ll read details about who is Jeff Zients and why is he in the limelight now?
Who is Jeff Zients?
Vice President Jeff Zients, who oversaw the government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak, has been appointed by President Joe Biden to the position of White House chief of staff. After the State of the Union address on February 7th, the current chief of staff Ron Klain will be leaving his position.
The position is often regarded as one of the most influential in the United States federal government.
“I promised to make government work for the American people. That’s what Jeff does,” Mr Biden said in a statement.
In the following days, the White House will host an official transition event. Mr. Zients’ return to the White House is very timely, as the president of the United States may soon launch a re-election campaign in 2024. Classified materials were discovered in Vice President Biden’s private office and his home in Delaware, prompting a probe by a special counsel.
He first joined the Biden administration in 2021, when he was given the monumental responsibility of overseeing the distribution of vaccines in response to the coronavirus outbreak. More than two-thirds of Americans had received the initial Covid-19 immunization by the summer of 2021.

At times, the White House came under fire for how it dealt with the pandemic, especially during the omicron variant’s peak season in 2021–2022. Even yet, when Mr. Zients left the White House in April 2022, Mr. Biden was among the first to sing his honors.
Mr. Zients assisted the 2020 Biden presidential campaign financially and co-chaired the president-transition elect’s team, which had a difficult time due to Donald Trump’s stubbornness to concede defeat.
In addition to his upcoming role as chief of staff, the incoming chief of staff is well-known in the District of Columbia for his role in co-founding Call Your Mother, a popular bagel chain with multiple brightly-colored locations.
