Born on June 5, 1993, Tyre Nichols was a 29-year-old native of Memphis, Tennessee. On January 7, Tyre was driving about when he was pulled over for reckless driving. The law enforcement officials were in an unmarked vehicle and wore hoodies.
Nichols drove off because he felt they were criminals posing as police officers. Later, when Memphis police finally caught up with him, they coughed him up, but in the process, they fractured his neck. Three days later, on January 10, Tyre was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
