Morrisett was the chairman of the board of trustees for more than 30 years and a Lifetime Honorary Trustee at the nonprofit organization Sesame Workshop formerly known as Children’s Television Workshop, the brains behind “Sesame Street.”
For co-creator Joan Ganz Cooney, “Sesame Street” would not exist without Lloyd Morrisett, according to an official statement released by Sesame Workshop. He was the first to propose using television to instruct young children in literacy and numeracy. I’ve relied on him for over fifty years, and he was always there for me.
