A police officer from Ohio is being investigated after a video surfaced showing him repeatedly striking a female suspect in the head during an altercation at a McDonald’s. Butler Township Police Chief John Porter said at a press conference that the department is looking into the acts of Sergeant Todd Stanley and Officer Tim Zellers, two officers who were present during the incident.
However, Latinka Hancock’s counsel has expressed scepticism that the police will suffer serious penalties for their actions.
At a separate press conference on Wednesday, Michael Wright, Hancock’s civil attorney, claimed that his client was injured in an attempted arrest by the two officers on January 15; the incident was captured on camera by an onlooker. Hancock allegedly sustained a closed head injury, a busted lip, loose teeth and an injury to his back. If what Wright has heard is true, Stanley hit Hancock while Zellers pointed a taser at her head.

Hancock, according to the police has been accused of resisting arrest and failing to identify. Police say she was also issued a citation for driving while her licence was suspended and for having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle.
According to Ben Swift, Hancock’s criminal defence attorney, Hancock had her arraignment on Wednesday morning. Swift has stated that he will be filing motions in the case since he does not agree with the charges.
“It’s going to be our objective to get the charges dismissed,” Swift said.
