The Mosquito Coast Season 3 Canceled

The Mosquito Coast Season 3 Canceled

Apple TV+ has decided not to renew the drama series The Mosquito Coast for a third season so Allie Fox and his family won’t be returning to the coast. The decision has been made two weeks after the dramatic Season 2 conclusion.

The show is based on Paul Theroux’s bestseller from 1981 however unlike the book and the film adaptation starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and River Phoenix the show will not be expanding into additional well-known locations.

The brilliant inventor and obstinate idealist Allie Fox (Theroux) uproots his family on a perilous adventure to find shelter from the U.S. government, drug cartels and hitmen in The Mosquito Coast, starring Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman.

Two seasons are currently available on Apple TV+ and serve as a prelude to the book and the film adaptation directed by Peter Weir. Characters like George’s Margo, who is simply called “Mother” in the book, were given more depth and history to better reflect the actor’s portrayal.

According to recent comments made by author Paul Theroux to Deadline, “it would transition into the book itself, and the movie’s search for a utopian community” if there had been a third season. But at the end of season two, it’s unclear whether Allie is involved or whether Margo is operating independently. A cliffhanger he said referring to the dramatic conclusion.

The Mosquito Coast Canceled after two seasons

Having narrowly escaped Mexico in Season 1, the Foxes travel to the heart of the Guatemalan forest in Season 2 to reunite with an old friend and her community of refugees. However, the Foxes’ new safe haven causes problems when they become embroiled in a feud between the drug lord and his relatives. Allie and Margot are at odds over whether they should settle down or keep moving. Which will either bring the family closer together or drive a permanent wedge between them.
