The Drummonds have undergone significant transformation as of late. We got an exclusive interview with Ree, aka The Pioneer Woman, about her recent move out of the house she and her husband Ladd raised their children in this past winter. Ladd’s family lived in the same house for nearly half a century in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
”It wasn’t even close to being a cute 50-year-old home. Although we had a wonderful time raising our children there, the house had some major issues that would be expensive and time-consuming to address “Apparently, she’s telling EVERYONE.
The Drummonds, though, didn’t have to go too far. Ree will be launching her first outdoor Walmart collection on talkshoplive on Tuesday and she says the family is still living in the same house they’ve had for the past 20 years.
“Last year, we decided to build a second, smaller home next to our main residence. As a matter of fact, we moved in back in December “explains the mother of Alex (24), Paige (22), Bryce (19), Todd (18), and Jamar (18), her biological and foster children.

Ree, Ladd, and Todd (their only child) settled into their new home with what seemed like unprecedented ease. She laughs and recalls, “We packed our things and walked across the yard – it was so amusing.”
Ree and Ladd hope to build a “primary house” in the future, so this new temporary apartment will eventually become a “smaller guest house” where her children can stay during visits.
It won’t be a “huge mammoth mansion” since “when we build our main house, all we’re building is one or two bedrooms,” she explains. “For the time being, though, the guest house is just fine. Also, we may call this place “house, house” for the time being. Very relaxing and easy to use. So we had to be picky about what we took in.”
The canine residents of Drummond are particularly pleased with one recent improvement.
“On the front porch, naturally. On the front porch, they have their own individual beds “her words “They spend most of their time outside, and they have the run of the barn when they want to sleep there, but when we’re home they rarely venture off the porch. Really, it’s hilarious.”
Even though the Food Network star is getting close to being a single parent, her lodge on the ranch where she films her show was jam-packed with her children when the epidemic first broke out. During the times when her crew was unavailable due to the pandemic, the Drummond children all chipped in to assist her film episodes of The Pioneer Woman show.
It’s been great fun for the kids and myself, she says and we’ve become closer as a family as a result. As Mauricio Scott, Alex’s husband helped with production, she got to know him better. “When the pandemic first started, Alex and Mauricio weren’t even engaged. Thus, those frantic first months served as a wonderful opportunity to get to know Mauricio and share a common goal “And she goes on to say.
The Drummond children’s days as a makeshift camera crew will end in June, Ree tells PEOPLE, before the real show’s team returns from the United Kingdom in July. This, however, does not mean that we will never longer see them on the show.
Ree’s children’s involvement in filming her Food Network hit was crucial because it “enabled me to really take the show in a more off-the-cuff, natural way,” she says.
“It’ll be so amazing to develop a whole new kind of a hybrid show,” she adds of the idea of a project including her children. Ree and Ladd’s attention is divided between their two sons, but right now they’re all focused on helping their youngest, Todd, get accepted to college and play football there. As soon as he leaves, she plans to enjoy some alone time with him.
