How Did Robbie Get His Name?
Robbie Knievel was the son of Robert “Evel” Knievel, a famous stuntman and Linda his first wife. Knievel, the third of four children bears the name of his father’s father. At the young age of four, Knievel started doing bicycle jumps and by the time he was seven, he was riding motorcycles.
When he was only eight years old, he and his father gave a performance at Madison Square Garden. At the tender age of twelve, he accompanied his father on tour where he participated in the pre jump shows. After starting at Central Catholic High School in Butte, Montana in 1975, Knievel dropped out in 1976. His father was against him jumping higher because he thought it would be dangerous. Later with his father’s blessing, Knievel struck out on his own.

What did Robbie Knievel Claim?
Robbie Knievel’s jumping career was very different from that of his famous father because, unlike Evel, Robbie used purpose-built motocross bikes like the Honda CR500 before 2009. Evel rode a Harley-Davidson XR-750 motorcycle for most of his world-record-breaking stunts. Since the CR500 is designed for flat-track racing and the XR-750 is a motocross bike it is noticeably lighter and more nimble than the XR-750.
Except for the Harley Davidson XR-750 jump and the Snake River Canyon jump on the X-2 Skycycle both of which his father performed, Robbie made and often replicated Evel’s jumps including Evel’s 1967 Caesars Palace crash. Robbie claimed he could jump an XR-750 over 16 buses three more than his father had jumped at Wembley Stadium in 1975.
But he never tried the current record for jumping a Harley-Davidson XR-750 15 buses currently held by Bubba Blackwell. Robbie also said he planned to make a rocket jump similar to his father’s 1974 attempt over the Snake River Canyon close to Twin Falls, Idaho which ended in disaster.

Kelly Knievel, Robbie Knievel’s brother told on Friday that Robbie whose age is 60 had passed away. He was the son of the late, great Evel Knievel. After only three days in a hospice, Robbie Knievel passed away from pancreatic cancer.

Who was the Ideal of Robbie Knievel?
According to his brother, Knievel always knew that he would follow in the footsteps of their famous stuntman father. Evel was so proud of his son that he tried to catch every one of his jumps including Knievel’s famous one in 1989 over the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
His father had tried the same jump in 1967 and nearly died as a result of the injuries he sustained when he crashed his Harley-Davidson. Daredevils don’t live easy lives his brother warned. But, it’s in their nature to do so. Kelly Knievel has stated that his sibling should be honored for his greatest achievements.
He was a great daredevil, he remarked. His leaps are the most impressive aspect of his game and ought to be his calling card. It was his passion and his hobby.
