Robbie Knievel Death

Robbie Knievel Death

Robbie Knievel an American stunt performer who followed in his father Evel’s tire tracks with a series of record-breaking motorcycle jumps has died in Nevada at the age of 60, according to his brother.

According to Kelly Knievel, Robbie Knievel passed away early Friday morning at a hospice in Reno after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Kelly Knievel told the Associated Press, “Daredevils don’t have easy lives.” “He was quite the risk-taker. Those who haven’t been in my brother’s shoes can’t fathom how terrifying his actions were.”

Even before his father’s death in Clearwater, Florida, in 2007, little Robbie Knievel was trying to ride his bike like his renowned father, Evel Knievel.

In 1967, Evel Knievel famously nearly died after crashing his Harley-Davidson while attempting to jump over the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In 1989, Robbie made the jump using a specially constructed Honda. Aside from his New Year’s Eve 2008 jump in front of The Mirage’s volcano attraction amid fireworks, Robbie Knievel made headlines with jumps over a row of limousines in 1998 at the Tropicana Hotel, between two buildings at the Jockey Club in 1999, and over a row of limousines on the Las Vegas Strip in 1998.

Robbie Knievel, after landing crash-first after jumping his motorbike over a gap measuring 220 feet (61 meters) at an Indian reserve outside Grand Canyon National Park in 1999, remarked that his father had always wanted to jump the amazing natural landmark in Arizona but never did. After a spectacular fall, Robbie Knievel suffered a broken leg.

In September of 1974 nevertheless, Evel Knievel tried to jump over a gaping hole in Idaho’s Snake River Canyon which was almost a mile wide. His rocket-powered bike went careening towards the gorge as his chute opened. Robbie Knievel’s brother recounted some of his brother’s previous antics, such as a leap in 2004 over a line of military planes on the deck of the USS Intrepid in New York.

Known to his fans as “Kaptain Robbie Knievel,” Robbie Knievel set a number of records for his stunts but also had his fair share of mishaps. In Cerritos, California, in 1992, at the age of 29, he was hurt when he collided with the 22nd of 25 lined-up pickup trucks stretching over a 180-foot (55-meter) gap.

Kelly Knievel said on Friday that his friend had been hurt badly and that it had affected him greatly. Kelly Knievel is a local of Sin City. He stated his brother was surrounded by his three daughters when he passed away: Krysten Knievel Hansson of Chicago, Karmen Knievel of Missoula, Montana and Maria Collins of Waldport, Oregon.

There are no plans for a funeral service at this time but Kelly Knievel has announced that his brother will be laid to rest in Butte, Montana, near other relatives.
