What do you think is Velma LGBTQ? You can read details about it below firstly we will tell you a little detail about the Scooby Doo cartoon which you must have seen in your childhood. The Scooby-Doo brand originated with a popular American animated television series that first aired in 1969 and has since spawned numerous spin-offs. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was developed by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Productions. The teenage protagonists of this Saturday morning cartoon series, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley and Shaggy Rogers, along with their talking Great Dane named Scooby-Doo, would stumble their way through solving mysteries involving purportedly otherworldly entities.
Before moving to ABC, Scooby-Doo previously aired on CBS from 1969 through 1976. Scooby-Doo ran on ABC from the 1960s until 1985, and there was even a spin-off series starring younger versions of the characters called A Pup Named Scooby-Doo. The years 1988-1991 saw the dog go by the name Scooby-Doo. From 2002 until 2008, The WB and its successor The CW aired two Scooby-Doo reboots as part of Kids’ WB.
Starting in 2010, Cartoon Network began creating new reboots, and they will continue doing so through 2018. It’s no secret that Scooby-Doo reruns can be seen on Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s sibling channel in the US and elsewhere. Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, the next animated series, debuted on Boomerang’s streaming service and then on HBO Max on June 27, 2019.
Is Velma LGBTQ Identity Confirmed by Fans?
Is Velma LGBTQ? The verdict is in: Velma is a lesbian. Clips from the brand new movie “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!,” which depict the Mystery Inc. member googly-eyed and speechless after confronting costume designer Coco Diablo, have gone viral on Twitter, validating fears held by the “Scooby” fan base for decades.
With over a hundred thousand likes, the tweet “OMG LESBIAN VELMA FINALLY” has gone viral.
Fans and “Scooby-Doo” creators have known for a long time that Velma is gay. Even James Gunn, who scripted the early live-action films, and Tony Cervone, who served as supervising producer on the “Mystery Incorporated” series, have verified the character’s sexuality, but they were never able to make it public onscreen.
In 2020, Gunn tweeted that he “tried” to make Velma a lesbian in the live-action movies. According to his original script from 2001, “Velma was explicitly gay.” In the words of the sequel, “the studio continued watering it down until it was ambiguous (the version shot), then nothing (the released version), and eventually had a boyfriend (the sequel).” If you are interested in knowing about other new movies then you can also check our latest article in which we cover the Top 10 movies.
For Pride 2020, Cervone posted on Instagram, “I’ve said this before, but Velma in ‘Mystery Incorporated’ is not bi. It’s no secret that she’s gay. When Velma started dating Shaggy, we expected her to act a little strange and out of character because the relationship wasn’t good for her and she was having an internal struggle with the reasons why.
If you follow the entire Marcie storyline, it becomes as plain as we could make it 10 years ago and there are indications about the why in that mermaid episode. Neither Marcie nor Velma seemed to have the opportunity to act on their feelings during the primary timeline, but now that everything has been reset, they are an item. You don’t have to agree with us, but know that this was our goal.
