Actor Noah Schnapp comes out gay in his latest TikTok video. He is best known for his role as Will Byers on “Stranger Things,” the most-watched season of which is currently streaming on Netflix. The statement was a perfect illustration of how real life can imitate art. His character is gay and has feelings for his on-screen friend Mike Wheeler, he revealed to Variety in July.

Schnapp uploaded an 8-second video to his TikTok account on Thursday with the caption:

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was, ‘we know.’”

Schnapp wearing a grey hoodie and resting his head on a cushion, looks directly into the camera while smiling and lip-syncing, You know what it never was? As severe as that. It never reached that level of gravity. Truthfully, it’s never going to get that bad.

The video’s description reads, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I imagined.” This is likely a reference to his on-screen persona. Byers‘ s*xuality was a topic of discussion amongst viewers of the show’s fourth season (2022).

Though Schnapp had been evasive in earlier interviews about his character’s s*xuality, he finally put an end to the rumors this year.

For Schnapp, “now it is 100% evident that he is gay,” Byers’s Variety profile reads.

“But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay,” he added.

This year, the actor took home a People’s Choice Award. The film “Bridge of Spies,” which was nominated for an Academy Award, is another of his works.
