Neil Sedaka’s Career 

Linc Tones is the first band he joins after graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School. With this band, they released many “While I Dream,” “I Love My Baby,” “Come Back, Joe,” and “Don’t Go.” When giving solo hits, RCA Victor signed him where his first song was “The Dairy.” He gave top 30 hits from 1960 to 1962, including “Stairway to Heaven,” “You Mean Everything to Me,” “Run, Samson, Run,” “Calendar Girl,” “Little Devil,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” and “Next Door to an Angel.”

Jimmy Clanton’s hit songs “Another Sleepless Night,” “What Am I Gonna Do?” and “All the Words in the World” were written by Sedaka and Greenfield. Sedaka again concerted his singing and started attending concerts. He was also invited to Bob Rogers show, where he thanked everyone for supporting him, “You know, Bob, in my lean years—I called them ‘The Hungry Years’—it was Bob Rogers and Australia who welcomed me.” 

A career in Other Fields

Not himself become a successful singer Sedaka, being the inspiration for Ben Folds from his album iTunes Originals. Folds said when he heard Sedaka’s songs when he was 13, he also set the same goal. Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, a Japanese series, also used Sedekas songs for their film.

In 2005, Erik Jackson and Ben H. Winters composed a musical comedy for “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.” A musical biographical, Laughter in the Rain, in which Wayne Smith played Sedaka, was produced by Bill Kenwright. Sadek himself attended its premiere at Churchill Theatre. In 1983, he received the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In 2006, they accoladed from the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, and in 2013, Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters in Los Angeles nominated him for  Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award. American Idol season 2 on Fox TV in 2003, he attended as a guest judge, 

He signed with  Razor and Tied records for two decades, including  Joan Baez, Vanessa Carlton, Foreigner, Joe Jackson, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Waking Up Is Hard to Do, is the second song he released with Razor.

In 2014, BBC Four premiered the documentary Neil Sedaka: King of Song, based on his struggling career.
