Woman found dead after being trapped in car

After working a shift at a senior center 22-year-old Anndel Taylor was found dead in her car due to the blizzard. Family members told on Tuesday that she was found dead in her car over the holiday weekend in Buffalo due to the blizzard that had stalled travel in western New York. Relatives in Charlotte say Anndel Taylor, who now lives in Buffalo, New York was driving home from her job at a senior citizen center when she got stuck in traffic and couldn’t get back home.

An older sister named Tomeshia Brown told that at around 3 o’clock on Friday, Taylor sent a video to a group chat with her sisters. Taylor filmed the snow and complete whiteout that she experienced. According to Brown, she called her sisters in North Carolina to tell them that she was stranded as the snow continued to fall. Taylor had dialed 911 and was waiting for emergency services, according to both Brown and Taylor’s mother, Wanda Brown Steele, who spoke.

If the police didn’t show up, her plan was to get up and walk once her car ran out of gas, her sister said. She added that if help didn’t come, she was going to sleep and try to walk back to her house in the morning. As the day progressed her family said they stayed in touch with Taylor. Taylor had texted her other sister separately at one point to express her growing panic, Brown said.

How did the family of the Woman react after hearing the news of her death?

Brown speculated, Maybe two hours later, my sister tracked her phone. Taylor must have told my sister where she was. Also, it proved that she was still in the open air. Taylor’s relatives in Buffalo were notified of the address but they claimed to have only seen Brown’s car when they arrived but not Taylor herself.

So, Brown explained she shared the details on a closed Facebook group called Buffalo Blizzard 2022 and reached out to the community for support. Later that night, she received a call from an unknown man after posting the location of the tracked phone. She told us he felt for a pulse and found none, Brown said. I couldn’t believe it, she exclaimed. My stomach felt like it was being stabbed, it was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.

Brown Steele, Taylor’s mother, told that she was in shock. Brown said that Taylor’s body was not recovered from the vehicle until the following day. When a woman contacted him via Facebook to report that she had found the same vehicle in which her sister’s body was found. The lady informed her Charlotte relatives that she would remain there until she was picked up.

Brown claimed that the callers were letting them know that they were all set to go rescue Taylor. They were told by the Brown family that Taylor’s body had been taken to the hospital the day before. Brown Steele said, “I want to get to the bottom of why the city was unable to help.”

In an interview on Monday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said that two-thirds of the equipment sent to help clear snow during the height of the storm got stuck. Poloncarz also noted that a Buffalo Fire Department historian confirmed that this was the first time in the department’s history that firefighters were unable to respond to calls due to weather conditions.

Emergency services in Erie County were back up and running on Tuesday, according to county officials. But they were still pleading with residents to respect Buffalo’s travel ban.
