Ted Lasso Season 3 has been a long time coming; in fact, three British Prime Ministers will have come and gone in that time; and although Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso works on making sure Season 3 is great it doesn’t appear to be coming any time soon.
We had hoped that the premiere of the new season of the Emmy-winning series on Apple TV+ would have coincided with the World Cup, but alas, it was not to be. In spite of this, we are confident that Season 3 will be well worth the wait.
Unlike the first season, which focused on Ted adjusting to British culture and a sport he knew nothing about, the last season allowed for genuine character growth for everyone. We got to spend more time with now-retired footballer Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and model-turned-P.R. executive Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) as their relationship progressed in Season 2 and Ted and Dr Sharon (Sarah Niles) probed further into his previous traumas. In addition, Brendan Hunt’s Coach Beard had expanded dialogue and expanded his role beyond that of the coach’s assistant.
Ted Laaso Season 2 spoilers: Nick Mohammed’s character, “Nate the Great” Shelley, went from being a lovable, sometimes bumbling assistant to a full-fledged nemesis who turned to the dark side, taking a coaching job with West Ham, the club owned by Richmond F.C. owner Rebecca Welton’s (Hannah Waddingham) vindictive ex-husband Rupert (Anthony Head). This new foe that the Richmond squad must face will be a major focus of Season 3.

Recent Developments in Season 3 of Ted Lasso
Breaking news! For those just getting to know Ted Lasso, Season 3 will bring us “meet the parents” vibes with the introduction of Becky Ann Baker as Ted’s mom, as reported by Above the Line. The actress has experience in mother roles thanks to her roles in Freaks & Geeks and Girls.
Now that Baker is officially Ted’s mom, we can’t help but wonder: what was it like to bring up the youngster who would one day become the upbeat, anecdotal football coach? Perhaps he inherited her penchant for baking biscuits. To paraphrase what Ted previously said “Meeting people’s mothers is one of my favourite things ever. This is like a user’s guide to understanding how and why they’re crazy.”
There have been whispers online that filming for the Season 3 finale has begun or has recently concluded and the very concept of it makes us sad. (Since TV shows often film their episodes out of order, this doesn’t necessarily mean production is finished.)
Chip Hamilton, the show’s coordinator, recently shared a touching homage to the cast and crew of Ted Lasso on Instagram and the post’s message features a lot of languages that are clearly past tense, leading us to believe that the show is ending soon.
This was and still is a dream for everyone involved, both those pictured and the many more who were integral to the production but aren’t credited. “Thanks very much. It’s Richmond Til Death for us. That’s ours, too and nobody can take it away from us. It’s no secret that I have feelings for each of you.”
Major delays to Season 3 had been rumoured for some time, but formal confirmation had yet to emerge from Apple TV+ or Warner Bros. Apparently, since Sudeikis has been promoted to showrunner, he has been insisting on rewrites until the scripts are just right.
“Character arcs shifted” and “script modifications on the fly” are two examples of these alterations, as cited by Puck. There have even been rumours of a shoot in Amsterdam moving locations. Production for the show was originally scheduled to begin in September 2021 but didn’t get underway until March 2022.

Release Date of Ted Lasso Season 3
The date has not been set. Season 3, which would consist of 12 episodes was supposed to begin in the fall of 2022. Given the aforementioned holdups, that is obviously not going to occur. Puck claims that Season 3 will premiere in the winter or early spring of 2023, but even this broad window is uncertain.
Multiple sources have reported that Season 3 will be the last episode of the Emmy-winning series. Including Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein and Bill Lawrence, the show’s writers and producers have confirmed to Deadline that Season 3 will be the last.
Yet, in an interview with Deadline, Lawrence left the door open for more Ted Lasso. The co-creator remarked, “Even if Ted Lasso goes on, the tale the writing staff has been presenting for the first three seasons had a beginning, middle and end.” As an added possibility, it could diverge from that. But in the end, it’s up to Sudeikis and he seems to prefer ending the show after the forthcoming season rather than continuing it.
What Happens in Ted Lasso Season3?
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, A.J. Catoline and Melissa McCoy, the editors of Ted Lasso, predicted that Rebecca and Nate’s characters would undergo the most significant development in the third season.
“Career-wise, [Nate is] on the rise…
He started as the team’s kit man in the first season, then moved up the coaching ranks and is currently West Ham’s head coach “As Catoline put it. “As a producer and an artist, Jason is incredibly giving. He develops plots for each and every one of the characters. So that’s why there’s always so much going on in each episode, I suppose… There are numerous plots and he hopes that each and every one of the characters will progress through a personal journey.
