It’s going to be Maya Rudolph’s fourth time “Up All Night” with a newborn. The Hollywood Reporter states that the 40-year-old actress and her 42-year-old partner Paul Thomas Anderson are expecting their fourth child together.

The “SNL” star and her director beau are already parents to Pearl, 7, Lucille, 3 and Jack, 19 months.

That the show’s star is expecting a child is only the most recent plot point in NBC’s never-ending “Up All Night” drama. Executives reportedly decided to switch the Lorne Michaels–produced sitcom to a multi-cam, live audience format after replacing their showrunner and altering the plot (Ava (played by Maya) is now unemployed after her talk show was canceled, leaving Reagan (played by Christina Applegate) also unemployed and trying to find her footing as a stay-at-home mom).

Do you think Maya Rudolph’s pregnancy will be the death knell for Up All Night

Is it possible that the addition of another kid could mean the end for the NBC comedy Up All Night, which follows the chaotic raising of a young child? The Hollywood Reporter has stated that one of the show’s stars, Maya Rudolph, is expecting a child. Rudolph and her filmmaker husband Paul Thomas Anderson are expecting their fourth child. As of the time of publication, Hollywood.com has not received a response to its request for comment.

As a result of this new information, television critics are once again asking (not for the first time, and not for the last time) whether or not Up All Night should end production and move on. Over the course of the previous few months, the show’s creators have encountered an astonishing amount of setbacks on the journey to television.

After the departure of creator Emily Spivey and showrunner Tucker Cawley, NBC had to replace them with a new head writer, Linda Wallem. With a new creative team at the helm, the show underwent a radical format change, moving from a single-camera to a multi-camera production with a live studio audience.

NBC put the show on hold for three months (December through February) with the intention of filming five episodes in the new format once production resumed. Recently, though, that strategy was scrapped in favor of trying out the new format with just one episode. That was the original intention, at least.

Since Christina Applegate’s departure from the program added yet additional complication, it’s time to say goodbye. Though Rudolph and the show’s other major performer, Will Arnett, are still technically under contract, it appears as the series may soon be put out to pasture.

Teena Marie, an R&B artist, was named Rudolph’s godmother.
