The Dallas Cowboys beat the Indianapolis Colts 54-19 on Sunday night, which was a huge victory for the team, but it may have also been a huge loss.
The Cowboys owner/general manager told reporters after the game that they expect cornerback Anthony Brown will miss the rest of the season due to an Achilles tear. I feel ill for him and sick for us,” Jones reportedly told Yahoo! Sports.
To complement All-Pro Trevon Diggs at cornerback, Dallas’ 2016 sixth-round pick, Brown, started every game this season. They were joined by Nickelback Jourdan Lewis earlier in the season, but Lewis went down with a season-ending Lisfranc injury in Week 7.

Dallas is getting dangerously thin at a very key position as DaRon Bland, a rookie and fifth-round pick has stepped into the lineup in place of Lewis and done mainly quite well. On Sunday night, Kelvin Joseph, a second-round choice from 2016, replaced Brown as the team’s No. 2 outside cornerback, a role he is likely to maintain for the remainder of the season. Nahshon Wright, a second-round pick in 2021, has played in just two games this year but will be called upon to contribute to the team’s depth moving forward.
Although Jayron Kearse, Donovan Wilson, Malik Hooker and Israel Mukuamu provide the Cowboys plenty of options at safety, none of them are ideal for playing on the outside corner position, and Bland has only been used as a slot player thus far. To address these concerns, the Cowboys may look to free agency to add another cornerback.
