When Can We Expect The Orville Season 4 to Premiere?
As of November 2022, there has been no confirmation of a fourth season, so at this point, the question isn’t if there will be one, but when. But we do know that MacFarlane and the rest of the crew are waiting in the wings, ready to resume filming as soon as they get the go-ahead.
When interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creator said:
“Yes, please [return for a fourth season]. The whole cast certainly hopes so. To put it simply, there is a lot of room for speculation. The show’s production costs are quite high. Spending goals must be lofty. Conversely, it lacks the ambition of the vast majority of other TV shows available via streaming services.”
He elaborated by saying “Finding out if the performance is successful will ultimately depend on the reactions of the audience. When people do sit down to watch the show, they are nearly always astonished, and it almost always upends their preconceptions, but I still think there are a lot of people who just don’t realize that we’re out there. Because, well, I’m me, of course.”
“Much likely because most of my previous work has been so dissimilar, although that is contingent on reception. “Commercial considerations must always take precedence. Whether or not Disney and the platform we’re on see any value in us is a major factor.”
This indicates that filming for season four of The Orville has not yet begun, but that new episodes might premiere as early as 2024 if the show is renewed. The Orville Season 4 Plot
The third season finale, “Future Unknown,” is a fitting conclusion to the show in many respects. There are many major storylines that come to a satisfying conclusion there, including the Kaylon war and Claire’s marriage to Isaac.
However, the USS Orville still has plenty of room for further explorations into the unknown if the crew decides to do so. After all, now that Lysella is a part of the crew, her adventures at sea seem like they are only getting started.
After the series finale of The Orville aired, creator Seth MacFarlane spoke about the show’s potential return if it proves popular enough on Disney+:
“When people finally give the show a try and settle in to watch it, they are often taken aback and astonished by what they see. What a pleasant surprise; it’s nothing like I expected it to be! “A statement he made. “If we can convince enough people to give us a go, I believe we’ll be rewarded with at least a fourth season, if not more”.

Some members of the Orville cast could try their luck on American Dad if that doesn’t pan out. After all, MacFarlane is responsible for both series, and only recently at Comic-Con, American Dad showrunner Matt Weitzman acknowledged the possibility of a crossover:
He quipped, “We’re thinking about getting Scott Grimes on the program,” referring to the actor’s dual role on both shows. The character Mike Henry from that program has been a regular on ours for some time.“
Weitzman explained, “I’m not necessarily looking to do that.” “Whatever gets the job done is OK. We won’t proactively seek it out, but if it helps, great.”
