Prior to a stabbing on campus, Purdue University was alerted about a murder suspect’s troubling behaviour. Ji Min Sha’s defence attorneys said Friday that the mental health of their client was at issue in the “student of concern” reports.
Sha’s lawyers are claiming insanity as a defence because they think he is mentally unable to face trial. Purdue University and Sha’s middle and high schools have allegedly produced records revealing the extent of Sha’s mental health problems.
Although the judge requests additional evidence. He scheduled a hearing with Sha for December 15 at 8 a.m.

According to our news coverage, Sha has been arrested and charged with murder for the stabbing death of his roommate, Varun Chheda. The attorneys for Sha contacted Purdue and asked for the student of concern reports they cited in their comments, which News18 requested.
The documents according to a Purdue spokeswoman are FERPA-protected. Purdue’s “student of concern” form may be found on the university’s website and should be used to report any suspicious activity to the Dean of Students.
Purdue’s website lists a wide variety of concerning behaviours from low academic performance to physical threats.
