Masked Singer Season 8 Finale

Ken Jeong called the eighth season finale of The Masked Singer “the toughest finale ever,” yet the show nonetheless managed to declare a winner on Wednesday.

When deciding between the two finalists, Harp and Lambs, he was joined by other judges Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke. Every group played two sets, with the second set including a new take on an old pop standard.

The harp was the first instrument played on closing night. In her clue package, she said, “Being under the mask has allowed me to distance myself from prior professions, my name, and what people expect of me and prove myself with just my voice.”

They played Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” on the harp. McCarthy, 50, told Harp, “That was by far the best performance I’ve ever seen in a finale show, ever, in all eight seasons.”

It was speculated that Harp may be Fantasia Barrino, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jennifer Hudson, Amber Riley, Jill Scott, or Jordin Sparks. Lambs, who in their clue package disclosed they go by the names Rose, Lilac, and Blueberry because of the colours of their outfits, then sang Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman.”

Scherzinger praised the Lambs for their “amazing song choice,” explaining that “you three are the ultimate personification of women supporting women.” Possible candidates for the group’s identity included the Chicks, the Kardashian sisters and Wilson Phillips.

This is a dead heat,” Jeong, 53, remarked of the close race. Lambs said in a prerecorded introduction that they “spent 14 years away and we went our own ways” before reuniting to perform their updated version of an old favourite. In the process of becoming mothers, we also forged our own paths in life and work.

After that, Lambs performed their version of Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Inquiring minds want to know: “What is love?” When McCarthy and Lambs won The Masked Singer, he promised them they would see it.

Nick Cannon, the show’s host, probed the Lambs on the significance of a victory. We wanted to make our tiny lambs at home proud of us, Lilac remarked. The set ended with Harp’s rendition of “Gravity” by John Mayer. One of the best things ever said on this stage, no contest. Never,” Thicke, 45, proclaimed.

Yes, Scherzinger said. She told Harp, “You are certainly one of the best that has ever graced our stage.” Harp was humbled by the compliment. “Being validated just means a lot,” she explained. To paraphrase, “I’ve been through a lot in this field, and sometimes you forget who you are and sometimes you need somebody to remind you.”
