According to a press statement from the Gainesville Police Department, Florida Gators quarterback Jalen Kitna was arrested on two counts of distributing child exploitation material and three counts of possessing child abuse.
In an interview with Gainesville Police Detectives, Kitna reportedly explained that he thought the two photographs he posted on Discord were fine because he discovered them online. Based on the other Discord user’s reaction, Kitna admitted that he should not have shared those two photographs with them. Kitna claimed his Discord account was terminated after he posted the photographs, and he presumed someone had reported him.

Kitna’s electronic devices were confiscated as part of a GPD search warrant, and initial examination of those devices turned up three more photos of child sexual assault content. At 3:20 on Wednesday, Kitna was arrested and sent to the Alachua County Jail. The Gators have placed him on indefinite suspension.
