Tom Hanks Arrested

Disinformation efforts on the internet have used the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory accusing celebrities of horrible child abuse for nearly a decade. The conspiracy theories notoriously supporting and attracting the attention of former President Donald Trump have pervaded online dialogues despite the lack of evidence behind the charges.

This type of odd and harmful accusations has died down in recent years but some like the one that went viral on Twitter this week still manage to make it to the surface.

For almost a decade QAnon conspiracy theories have proliferated sometimes with bogus accusations linking public personalities to child abuse incidents. Among the hypotheses put forth is the idea that a group of well-known Satanic pedophiles torture and kill kids for their adrenochrome.

Hillary Clinton the former secretary of state has been linked to the conspiracy theory that Democrats are involved in a covert child abuse ring for quite some time, which gave rise to the widely discredited “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory in 2016.

In a similar vein, other celebrities’ names have been pulled into similar rumors by social media after their deaths. For example, Paul Walker, Anne Heche and Anthony Bourdain were all wrongly reported to have been investigating child s*x rings prior to their untimely deaths.

A person name @davenwworls_2 on Twitter commented something relating to this which has gone viral. Read what he said:

It’s been almost 40 hours since this obviously fake news report about Tom Hanks getting “arrested” for child p*** went viral, and it’s received over 20,000 likes. Twitter has transformed into Facebook.
