You will read about details of the Dixie Chicks breakup? Read below: After 17 years of marriage, Natalie Maines of The Chicks (previously The Dixie Chicks) divorced her actor spouse Adrian Pasdar. The reason for the divorce was never revealed.
At the time of Maines’ initial divorce filing, a representative said the couple’s separation was “a private family matter” and therefore they would not comment. Now that Gaslighter, The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, has been released, we have a much clearer picture of the acrimonious divorce and the circumstances under which Maines and Pasdar dissolved their marriage.
Who is Natalie Maines?
Country music group The Chicks feature Natalie Maines on main vocals. After taking over for Laura Lynch as the main singer in 1995, she has been singing with her band sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer ever since.
Since Maines’s arrival, the band has released five studio albums, including Wide Open Spaces (1998), Fly (1999), Home (2002), Taking a Long Way (2006) and Gaslighter (2017). They have also won 10 Country Music Association Awards and 13 Grammy Awards (2020). During the group’s concert in London in 2003, Maines made some controversial remarks against then-US President George W. Bush.
The band went from industry darlings to outcasts overnight. Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing is a documentary that follows The Chicks over the course of three years after Bush’s statements, during which time the group refuses to back down, releasing the song “Not Ready to Make Nice” in 2006 off the forthcoming album Taking a Long Way.

Next, they went on an extended break of several years. The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, changed their name in June 2020 in anticipation of the release of their fifth studio album, citing a desire to “meet this moment” in the context of a national reconsideration of Confederate symbolism. Mother, Maines’s 2013 solo album, was released in the meantime.

How did Adrian Pasdar and Natalie Maines hook up?
Maines met Pasdar in May 1999, during the wedding of her Chicks bandmate Emily Strayer. This was a few years after she had divorced her spouse of two years, Michael Tarabay.
The wedding took place on June 24, 2000, a full year later. Having been blessed with two kids, Jackson Slade Pasdar in March 2001 and Beckett Finn Pasdar in July 2004, the couple has been happily married ever since.
About how long ago did Natalie Maines and Adrian Pasdar break up?
After 17 years of marriage, in July 2017, Maines filed for divorce from Pasdar. After two years of marriage, she filed for divorce in December 2019 citing irreconcilable differences.
Why did Adrian Pasdar want to stop Natalie Maines from releasing music about him and what happened during the divorce? Their two-year divorce fight lasted due to disagreements over the terms of their prenuptial agreement, which stated that neither spouse would be entitled to alimony.
Pasdar, it is said by The Blast, claimed he was forced into signing the prenuptial agreement and wanted it nullified. According to reports, Pasdar asked for monthly spousal support of $44,076, plus child support of $16,427, for a grand total of US$60,503 (about $86,500). According to him, Maines was the primary income during their marriage, and he gave up acting to take care of their kids while she toured as a musician.

After the fact, Pasdar also tried to utilize the prenup’s confidentiality clause to stop Maines and The Chicks from releasing any songs about him. For anyone who has heard The Chicks’ 2020 album Gaslighter, you’ll realize this was an exercise in futility.
To “defend his rights under the confidentially” of their prenup, Pasdar reportedly requested the court for copies of all of Maines’ unpublished compositions. They finalized their divorce on December 19, 2019 and the partition of their assets was settled on the same day.
On the latest Chicks album, Gaslighter, what does Natalie Maines have to say about Adrian Pasdar?
Their long-awaited return to the music scene in July 2017 with the release of Gaslighter was met with no restraint from the Chicks. This whole album is about breaking up. Here are the songs by The Chicks that deal with heartbreak, including the album’s namesake track.
It’s not obvious if all the songs on Gaslighter were inspired by Maines’ ex-husband, but if they were, it’s important to remember that Pasdar isn’t a singer-songwriter, so we’re only hearing one side of the tale.
So, what exactly went down aboard Natalie Maines’ boat?
Some of the lyrics in “Gaslighter” and “Tights On My Boat” may or may not pertain to Pasdar’s boat Nautalee, which he bought in 2006. (named after Maines).
And you can tell the girl who left her tights on my boat / That she may have you now,” Maines sings about a woman whose belongings she found on her boat. While Maines has dropped hints that something did go place on a boat, tights weren’t one of the essential components. That was simply me being creative.

Maines said, “I hate to disappoint, but that’s not true,” on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show on July 20. “What a silly idea… I never denied that a boat played a role. And what I mean is that there were no tights to be found.” Pasdar has been silent about this matter.
