The long-awaited sequel of Avatar 2: The Way of Water from the director starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will finally be released on December 16.
James Cameron has only made three sequels in his entire career. His first movie was the sequel to Piranha called simply One. We’re going to overlook this one. The other two are, without a doubt, two of the best sequels ever made: Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Since Cameron’s next film is a sequel you have every right to get at least a little bit excited now with the release date looming in just a few short weeks.
Cameron’s 2009 film Avatar is still the highest-grossing film of all time, and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water is set to break that record. And if Disney’s record with sequels isn’t enough to pique your interest, consider Cameron’s success with sequels. A brand new trailer has been released giving us a glimpse into the expanded universe of the sequel and hinting that Cameron may have topped himself this time. And that’s saying a lot

Avatar: The Way of Water is set to break that record. After a successful re-release in theatres, Disney has put the original film back on Disney+ and released a brand-new trailer for the film, which can be seen below.
As an added bonus you can now say Alexa enables the ‘Avatar‘ theme to have access to a slew of features, as well as use a new, spooky Snapchat filter integrated with Amazon Alexa. The phrase Alexa teach me Navi will initiate yet another exciting experience.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet star in Avatar: The Way of Water which Cameron directed and co-wrote. On December 16th, it will debut in theatres. The release date for the untitled third Avatar movie has been set for December 20, 2024.

When Will You See “Avatar: The Way of Water” on Disney Plus?
The release of “Avatar: The Way of Water” in the United States can be made more difficult due to a contract 20th Century Fox had with HBO before Disney acquired the company. Fortunately for Disney, the contract will be over by the end of 2022. So this will probably be the last film to be distributed by the studio under the terms of the agreement.
Due to a temporary agreement with WarnerMedia to share access to select titles on either Hulu or Disney+, “Avatar: The Way of Water” will also be released on HBO Max in the United States.
20th Century Studios’ “Avatar: The Way of Water” is one of the most anticipated films in recent memory and after its limited theatrical run ends, the rights to the film will most likely be split between Disney and HBO. It’s also likely to follow “West Side Story” and “Free Guy” is being released on Disney+ in the US, rather than Hulu, since it’s got much more mainstream appeal.

Thankfully things are a lot simpler on a global scale and the film will be available on Disney+ in many countries around the world, such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. There has been no announcement of a Disney+ release date as of yet. If “Avatar: The Way of Water” follows the same pattern as other 20th Century Studios films like “Death on the Nile” and “The King’s Man,” it will likely become available on Disney+ around the beginning of February 2023, 45 days after its theatrical release.
