‘The Crown’ Season 6: Will It Cover Princess Diana’s Death?

The Crown Season 6

The Crown Season 6

The drama of the Royal Family will finally come to an end with “The Crown” season 6. As we know, season 5 of the drama series based on the British Royal Family showed the events till 1st July 1997. In “The Crown” season 6, the show makers intend to cover the happenings of the lives of the world’s most powerful family through the late 90s to the 00s. We know it will be hard to bid farewell to Netflix’s Emmy award-winning show, but the final run will be the most interesting one.

It will uncover the dark secrets of the tumultuous period of the royal’s life, especially that of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. It is majorly because of their divorce, followed by the princess’s death in 1997. Thus, “The Crown” season 6 will highlight a lot of the unseen side of the story in the final years of Princess Diana’s life,; things will surely get messy.

When Will “The Crown” Season 6 Be Released?

It has been clear for a long time that “The Crown” season 6 would be the final season for the audiences. Netflix confirmed this information in July 2020. There have been a lot of complexities in this situation since it was said that the season would end early in season 5. But again, Morgan confirmed sticking to the original plan of “The Crown” season 6 being the last of the franchise “to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story.”

The Crown Season 6

This is happy news. However, the release date isn’t that near. In the initial stages, the show was seen filming two-season cycles back to back to keep the wait time low. And so was seen for season 5 as well as 6. The filming and production for “The Crown” season 6 started in September 2022. Then the team made two brief pauses when Queen Elizabeth II died in September and another for her funeral. After that, “The Crown” season 6 was back to filming and is continuing to do so. We are not sure when the filming will end, but if everything wraps up early, “The Crown” season 6 might release in late 2023, or arrive in early 2024. The final date is yet to be revealed.

Does Princess Diana Die In The Plot of “The Crown” season 6?

Based on the information available and whatever we have seen in “The Crown” season 5, the final season will start in the summer of 1997. At the end of season 5, we saw Diana meeting Dodi Fayed, her lover, for the first time. Hopefully, in “The Crown” season 6, we will see the future of the Royal Family and even that of the first meeting of Kate and Prince William. Besides, you might even witness Tony Blair serving as Prime Minister.

However, one thing is for sure “The Crown” season 6 will not extend to the scenarios of the present day. The relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be covered. The creators only intend to cover the events in the past 20 years. “I think you get much more interesting [with time]. Meghan and Harry are in the middle of their journey, and I don’t know what their journey is or how it will end. One wishes some happiness, but I’m much more comfortable writing about things that happened at least 20 years ago,” “That is enough time and enough distance to understand something, to understand its role, to understand its position, to understand its relevance.”

Now for Princess Diana’s untimely death, the scene of the fatal car crash is already under production. But since it is a sensitive topic, Princess Diana’s death must be depicted thoughtfully. Thus, “The Crown” season 6 will be heavy on the viewers’ hearts.
